Corina Cruceanu, who now works as a plans and operations specialist at Logistics Readiness Center Stuttgart, was only 11 years old when her parents left her and her siblings in Romania to move to the United States. After living in a communist society for the first nine years of her life, her parents established residency in the U.S. in the mid-90s, allowing Cruceanu and her siblings to join them in Virginia. Her family found success in the U.S., with her parents running a construction business, her brother owning his own construction business, and her sister working in the security field with a criminal justice degree. Cruceanu herself retired as an Air Force master sergeant after 21 years of service and now works as an Army civilian with the 405th Army Field Support Brigade’s LRC Stuttgart.
Reflecting on her journey, Cruceanu is grateful for the opportunities that the U.S. has provided for her and her family, opportunities that they would not have had if they had stayed in Romania. She highlights experiences such as being stationed in Norway at the U.S. embassy and working as a flight chief for a Logistics Readiness Squadron in Italy. Cruceanu emphasizes the unique opportunities available in the U.S. and expresses gratitude for living the American dream. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in contracting and acquisition to further her education and career.
At LRC Stuttgart, Cruceanu works closely with a small team of Department of the Army civilian employees, many of whom have prior military experience. She values the diversity brought by the local national workforce at LRC Stuttgart and appreciates the collaborative work environment. Managing day-to-day operations, Cruceanu works directly with division chiefs and the director to establish unit policies and provide guidance for logistical plans and programs. She sees LRC Stuttgart as operating at the State Department level and notes the similarities with her past experiences in the Air Force and at a U.S. embassy.
