About thirty minutes into the reception, Riceland’s Vice President of Government Affairs Kevin McGilton spoke to the crowd about how vital the Stuttgart community had been in getting Riceland “off the ground”.“Just reading through the letters that were written,” said McGilton of the items on display. “And, obviously, the Stuttgart Daily Leader played a huge part. You’ll see a lot of this history on these tables through the eyes of the Stuttgart Daily Leader.”Roger Pohlner, Chairman of Riceland’s Board of Directors, thanked the company’s employees and the community for making Riceland what it is today.“People may think Riceland is all the concrete and steel that’s scattered all over the city of Stuttgart and around the eastern part of our state and the bootheel of Missouri, but it’s not,” Pohlner said. “Riceland Foods is people.
